What the university can do for you:
·Free Chinese training courses: to improve your language skills in Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing, and to help you pass HSK
·Free accommodation: standard foreign students’ apartments, each apartment being shared by two students
·One-to-one language partner: to form a partnership with Chinese students
·Qualification courses for English teacher: to help you understand Chinese culture, understand the strategy in successfully communicating with Chinese students, and understand the localization of English teaching and the ways in self-encouragement
·Part-time jobs: to work in the university’s western restaurants or coffee shops
What you can do for the university:
·To help Chinese students in their English learning
·To improve your own Chinese competency
·To benefit from this helping and being-helped relationship reciprocally
·To teach English for four classes without pay each day during the weekdays (If your teaching hour ·exceeds four classes, the part that exceeds will be paid accordingly)
·To help hold and participate in the English-related activities held by the Foreign Language and ·Tourism College
·To help promote the development of English language and culture in the university |

| Introduction |
The International Department of Foreign Language and Tourism College, University for Science and Technology Beijing offers free classes of Chinese Language, Chinese Culture and Chinese Traditional Art for individuals who wish to learn the Chinese language as well as its culture.
International department mainly provides such free courses as Basic Chinese, Practical Chinese, Reading of Literary Works, etc. The curriculum covers long-term and short-term courses in group. All courses will be delivered according to students’ actual language capacity and demands. |

| Language training curriculum |
Required Courses in group:
Intensive Reading, Newspaper Reading, Grammar, Chinese Conversation, Listening Comprehension, Writing, Handwriting, and General Knowledge for Chinese Culture.
Timetable
A．Long-term group course in the morning, 18 weeks per semester, 15--20 class hours per week, 3--4 class hours each day, Monday to Friday 8:30 – 12:00
B. Long-term group course in the afternoon, 18 weeks per semester, 15--20 class hours per week, 3--4 class hours each day, Monday to Friday 13:00 – 16:30 |

| Qualification of Applicants、 Application time&Certificate |
Any foreigner who wants to learn Chinese language at Foreign Language and Tourism College, University of Science and Technology Beijing is expected to have formal education of high school level or above, good moral character and good health. The applicant should be at the age of 18-55. Applicants who meet these requirements may apply directly to the International Department.
Application time:August 5th 2007----August 20th 2007
Certificate：Students who pass both mid-term & final exams will obtain a certificate.
